Altar Server Recognition:
>>> return to Altar Servers Parish support for our Altar Servers: All of us at St. Margaret Mary Parish are aware of the important role our servers play in providing a meaningful liturgy for our Sunday worship. Many people assist by volunteering their time to train our servers, make schedules, and spend many hours on the phone talking to our servers reminding them of meetings, training sessions or special liturgies. Our parish also seeks to acknowledge our altar servers by treating them with pizza and pop and taking them on outings as a modest sign of our great appreciation for the service they provide to our parish. Below are a couple of pictures from a Spring outing at a local go-karting track.
Serra Club Altar Server Awards:
Each year in the Diocese of Hamilton the Serra Club rewards altar servers for their faithful service to the church - while creating awareness among the young that priesthood and religious life is an attractive and rewarding vocation, worthy of their prayerful consideration.
Each Spring this celebration takes place at the Cathedral of Christ the King. Altar servers from throughout the diocese come together with members of their parishes to celebrate Mass with Bishop Tonnos and to be acknowledged for their service. The altar servers receive the "Bishop's Award For Service", a medallion to take back to their parish and wear proudly as they serve at the altar. The altar servers also enjoy a reception in their honour in the auditorium of the Cathedral following the Mass.
If you have a recommendation for a particular altar server to receive this award this year please speak to Fr. Bill or Deacon Steve.
Our Pastor Fr. Bill:
Fr. Bill has demonstrated his appreciation for our altar servers in many ways. This is seen in his warm and friendly manner that he treats our altar servers every day. Fr. Bill is always patient and kind towards them and is just like an uncle to many of our servers. All our priests show a great respect and appreciation for our altar servers and often let them know this personally after Mass.
